‘Trust is the basis of any successful relationship’ …

So they say. And when it comes to interior design this most definitely holds true.

People tend to engage an interior designer because they need to find a supplier who can both understand and translate their vision, and ultimately realise it.

Both of these scenarios require a significant leap of faith. At JNI we don’t underestimate the level of trust that you put in us. After all, your project will require your valuable time, your hard-earned cash and also sometimes the pain of disruption. We want you to be 100% satisfied with your investment at every stage of the project – at the start, during the project, and with the finished result.

Happy clients are the lifeblood of our business and we appreciate them more than ever during these challenging times. Our clients have varying levels of clarity about their needs and wants. This is where our vision, experience and expertise come into play.

Envisage yourself as our client. Maybe you know exactly what you want. If that’s the case then we’re entirely committed to realising your vision. But we also – most definitely – want to add value, so although we’re ultimately guided by your finessed ideas, we can put a different spin on some element or propose some tweaks to really make your vision sing. No matter how small. For example, recently we suggested a bright orange feature wall in a client’s kitchen. Once the wall was painted, the whole room leapt into life.

Perhaps your ideas are at a more embryonic stage. Maybe you vaguely tell JNI that you want a ‘scandi’ look for your home. What exactly do you mean by ‘scandi’? We need to be very sure before we start to interpret your ideas that we know exactly what you mean. Or perhaps you’ve requested a minimalist treatment of your living spaces, when after some investigation it transpires that what you’re really looking for is a modern, contemporary look and feel. Which is very different from the cool white spaces and hard edges synonymous with a minimalist vibe. Without mutual understanding, rapport and trust, we could seriously misunderstand each other.

What JNI bring to every project is rigorous review and evaluation before the project itself actually begins, to ensure that we’re on the same page from the start. We want our input at every stage – not just the end result – to exceed your expectations. For us, tenacity is a virtue and it underpins every aspect of our project delivery.

So rapport is key. Especially if – as is often the case – we’re working in the absence of our clients. The Glasgow townhouse – subject of our recent blogs – being a perfect example of this type of project. We don’t take that responsibility lightly. Striking up a good relationship from the outset, agreeing how we work together, how we communicate and when, what our remote review process will be – all of these things make the difference between a good and a bad client relationship, and ultimately the success of the project.

JNI have tried and tested processes to understand, translate and ultimately realise your vision. All of which we’ll go through with you during our initial discussions. But we also know flexibility to be another corner-stone of our success. So whatever your ideas, whatever you want to use to illustrate exactly what you’re looking for, whatever your preferred way of working – we’ll throw all of these things into the mix to help us flesh out your vision and establish understanding, rapport and trust from the outset. And you can’t put a price on that…
